Comminuted fracture.

  • A four-fragmental fracture of the proximal end of the left femur. The greater trochanter was broken off and the lesser trochanter as well as the neck with the head were interrupted in the pertrochanteric massif. A peseudoarticulation formed on the pertrochanteric fracture. The breal surface is smoothed down and partially resorbed.

  • On the dorsal and lower margins of the break surface there are a numerous jagged osteophytes as much as 15 mm high, which probably arose from the metaplasia of the bone in the injured muscle tissue.

  • X-Ray picture: An unhealed break surface passes through the pertrochanteric massif. Marked osteoporosis in the head and in the greater trochanter.
